Anatomy of Swimming

The anatomy of swimming can be found in the Pilates. Pilates’ primary focus is on core strength. However you can also expect to see strength gains in both your arms and legs. Positions and movements used to activate core rely on extremities to control the core and vice versa. Core strength is directly related to the power of a stroke.

Swim workouts are known to be strenuous and cause muscle strain due to repetitive overuse. Pilates forces the use of the smaller muscles that are not activated with the muscle groups primarily used in swimming. Preventing muscle imbalance is one way to prevent injury.
